Dr. Laeeq Evered
About
Dr. Laeeq Evered is a neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist who specializes in applying scientific understanding of brain function to understanding & treating his clients. His clinical work includes diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions, psychological issues, and learning disabilities. His psychotherapy is based on an empathic connection with his clients combined with a comprehensive understanding of brain functioning. Dr. Evered specializes in the treatment of PTSD/Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Thought Disorders, and Autism Spectrum.
Due to his teaching and work in the application of brain functioning, Dr. Evered is also requested as an expert witness to explain the effects of psychological and neurocognitive functioning on an individual's comprehension and behavior.
Education
Dr. Evered earned a Doctoral Degree in Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA in 2000. As an undergraduate, he double majored in Biology and Chemistry at St. Louis University prior to pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology. He began working on a Ph.D. at St. Louis University before pursuing research on treating the homeless mentally ill through an NIMH demonstration project.
Dr. Evered completed two full-time internships, the first in neuropsychology at St. Mary's Medical Center-McAuley in San Francisco, and the second in psychotherapy at the Karen Horney Clinic in NYC.
He completed a two-year postdoctorate in forensic neuropsychology at San Francisco Clinical Neurosciences under the mentorship of Dr. Ronald Ruff. Dr. Evered has also trained in both medical & psychiatric inpatient hospitals.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Evered is a professor at the Wright Institute in Berkeley where he teaches graduate courses in neuropsychological assessment, neuroanatomy & function, biological bases of behavior, and brain-based psychotherapy.

Dr. Evered is also a Board Expert Reviewer assisting the California Attorney General’s Office and the California Board of Psychology’s Enforcement Program in reviewing case materials, preparing written opinions, and testifying on standard of care practiced by neuropsychologists.
Research Interests
Dr. Evered's research interests include the interplay between brain functioning and normal & abnormal behavior. He was formerly a clinical researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs employing microwave radar to investigating biomarkers of psychiatric disorder. Past research and publications include emotional risk factors in postconcussive disorder, effects of mold exposure on cognitive and psychological functioning, major mental illness and homelessness, and malingering.
